We’re all about homemade dog treats here. They’re healthy and fun to make!
This recipe contains lots of healthy ingredients for your pup and will leave him licking his chops, plus if you use gluten free oats, these treats are perfect for dogs who may be experiencing gluten intolerance. By the way, oats are naturally gluten free BUT most oats on the market are likely cross contaminated with some sort of wheat product and can’t be guaranteed gluten free. If you need gluten free, go with a brand that guarantees it, like Quaker Oats GLUTEN FREE cooking oats.
Here’s how to whip up these little pieces of delicious:
Ingredients:
♥3 cups gluten free quick cook oats, divided. Try a brand that specifies it’s gluten free, like Quaker Oats GLUTEN FREE cooking oats.
♥ ½ cup diced strawberries
♥ ¼ cup plain, greek yogurt
♥ 1 Tbsp. honey
♥ 2 tsp. coconut oil, melted
♥ 1 egg
Directions:
♥Preheat oven to 350 degrees
♥Puree 2 cups of oats in a blender until they are a fine powder. Remove from blender and set aside.
♥ Combine diced and hulled strawberries in the blender with the yogurt.
♥ Combine strawberry mixture, oatmeal powder, whole oatmeal, honey, coconut oil, and egg.
♥ Roll dough between waxed paper for easy rolling and clean up.
♥ Roll dough to ¼” thickness and cut out desired shapes. X’s and O’s are super cute, so are hearts, stars or any other fun shape.
♥ Bake on a cookie sheet for 15-17 minutes.
♥ Allow to cool completely, then store in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
